La Rochelle's aquarium rises massively from a portside position near the Port des Minimes. Inside are guided walkways stretching over two floors of massive and bubbling
seawater tanks loaded with approximately 10,000 species of flora and fauna from the oceans of the world, living in what look like natural habitats.
If you have any interest in marine zoology or even if you just fancy doing something different then its a great place to visit.
Founded on January 10, 1882, this waxwork museum takes you on a journey through history, illusion, and mystery, it's France's answer to Madame Tusaudes.
The wax figures are very intriguing, accurate and amazingly well-detailed. There are also mirror exhibits (or "Palais des Mirages") which are fascinating. Contained in
a hexagonal room, everything that you see is multiplied many times by the ceiling-to-floor mirrors that surround you. Just don't go if you are having a 'fat day'.
