About Franche-Comte |
|
 |
Franche-Comté is an underexposed region of France, but beautiful nonetheless. If you dare to venture off the main highways, you will discover picturesque roads that will take you through the heart of untamed countryside, captivating and ever changing scenery.
The neighboring mountainous Jura and Vosges has lofty forests, lakes and meadows, gorges and waterfalls. This area is great for visiting all year round as it is excellent for both cross-country skiing in the winter and walking in the summer.
Some things to try while in the region are: comte cheese with some Jura wine and maybe a visit to some of the exhibitions that take place year round on the Royal Saltworks site at Arc-et-Senans.
The quickest way to get to the Franche-Comté region is by flying to Lyon Airport, which has direct flights from a number of UK airports including London Gatwick, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, London Heathrow and London Stansted Airports.
